Social media can greatly benefit your business. Facebook and Twitter are both easy to use, but no social media platform is as unique as Instagram. Instagram can be a bit tough to use, especially for those who are not accustomed to taking pictures. With over 700 million active users each month, Instagram is a platform that all businesses should be using. To get you started, here are a few tips to help your business utilize Instagram.

Be creative
Instagram offers plenty of opportunities to get creative with your content. Through the photos that you take and publish, you can really show off how your business approaches solutions. If your business offers services, it would be very beneficial to show how you go about providing them. Through Instagram, you can show your followers all kinds of cool things behind the scenes. Such things could include a highlight of your company’s culture, mission, and/or instructional content. Another great way to show off your company’s creativity is through Instagram Stories. Instagram Stories are very similar to Snapchat in that the picture or video posted only lasts for 24 hours before disappearing. The big difference is that it is much easier to get followers on Instagram than Snapchat.

Engage other
Comment on and tag (@) other users. This can help expand your brand’s Instagram presence and show your followers what your company values. By tagging those that you work with, you can expose their audience to your brand. If you have a bigger social media budget, you can also pay a bigger brand or influencer to promote your brand which could greatly increase your Instagram presence. If you are on a smaller budget you can partner with other brands that have a similar presence to yours. With a partner brand, you can give each other a shoutouts. By doing this, you can expose your company to the audience of your partner’s brand.

Use hashtags
Hashtags can be used in a similar way, but they are noticed much less than account tags are. That’s not to say that hashtags are not important. Hashtags can expand your company’s presence. To begin, start by using your company’s name in a hashtag. Doing this can bring people directly to every post that has your hashtag in it. It each post, it is recommended to use no more than five hashtags and no less than three. Use your company’s hashtag as well as popular ones that can be attached to what you are posting.

Use the Analytics
Instagram has a really helpful analytics page called Insights. Insights gives you information about your followers, impressions, posts, stories, and promotions. One of the most helpful things that Insights shows you is what day of the week you get the most impressions, which day your posts reach the most people, and which day your profile is viewed the most. These analytics are very helpful in determining the best time to publish content.
